Presented in partnership with the Davenport Civil Rights Commission, the Davenport Library will host a series of lectures on “Know Your Rights”.  The lectures will be held weekly through March at Fairmount (3000 Fairmount Street) beginning Tuesday, March 6 at 6:30pm. The schedule of lectures is:

A panel discussion on “The Fight for Fair Housing: the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr” will be held at Fairmount (3000 Fairmount Street) on Thursday, February 15 at 6:00pm. Sponsored by the Davenport Civil Right Commission, the panel will discuss Dr. King, the Chicago Freedom Movement and the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

Celebrate the Fancy Nancy book series with activities, crafts and snacks (in other words, all things extraordinary!) The party will take place at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) on Wednesday, February 28 at 4:00pm. Fancy dress encouraged!

Join dancers from Ballet Quad Cities for an hour of movement and music as we bring “Alice in Wonderland” to life at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) on Saturday February 24 at 2:00pm. Reading has never been so much fun as everyone learns to “dance me a story!”

Join us at Eastern on Friday, February 16 at 10:00am when Living Lands and Water’s Educational Facilitator Mike Coyne-Logan will share the history of the organization and the story of founder Chad Pregracke. Mike will cover what it’s like to clean up garbage on the river, live on a barge for most of the year and show examples of bizarre items that they’ve found on the river.
